vManifesto
Welcome to my new blog. As this is the first post of what I hope to be hundreds, I thought I would start by setting out the purpose of this blog to ensure that I stay true to my word in the future, as I am quite a forgetful bloke!
So what is the purpose of this blog ?
This blog will be concerned with all aspects of virtualization and my interactions with this technology. As I have been using VMware and most of my experience is based on their technology, the content of this blog, will at this point in time, be skewed towards their product set.
What will I hope to add to the VMware blog universe?
I hope to share my knowledge and experiences in my daily interactions in implementing and managing a virtual infrastructure at my place of work. I sense a shortage of knowledge and experiences with VMview and since we are starting to looking at this technology, I hope my experiences can help others while also allowing me to learn from you.
VRules:
This would be a good time for me to set down a few rules for me to follow:
- Innovate, don’t duplicate. There are many of us sharing our knowledge. Most of my knowledge has been gained (and I’m still learning daily) from some very good bloggers. So if I am aware of a good post, there is no point me duplicating their effort. I might as well link to the original post, unless I feel I have something unique to add.
- Consolidate, when necessary. In my travails on this road of virtualization, I’ve found that it is sometimes difficult to find a single source of knowledge on a certain specific topic or action. This is a common occurrence for me on the Experts-Exchange forum where I try to help others with their virtualization problems This blog was mainly created as a result of the many questions I’ve seen being asked time and again. I hope to have create very in-depth “vRepository” on this blog which I hope will help anybody depending on where they are on their road to virtualization.
- Learn
- Try not to add a “v” to everything, e.g. “vEverything”
vKudos:
In this, my manifesto post, I want to take the opportunity to thank some very special people in the VMware universe who have helped me greatly by sharing their knowledge selflessly with all of us over the last few years.
